BRM-1 is similar to the BMP-1 but the Sagger ATGW launcher over the 73mm gun has been removed and a Tall Mike (NATO designation) surveillance radar is mounted in the rear part of the turret also a bank of electrically operated smoke grenade dischargers added to the turret rear firing forwards.
