Long-range supersonic patrol interceptor TU-128 was built in 1961. Two missiles K-80 were equipped with war-heads of semi-active homing guidance with the purpose of increasing attack effectiveness, two other missiles were equipped with the thermal war-heads. With such an armament the probability of hitting the target averaged 76-77%. Another peculiarity of the complex was a long-range missile carrier, allowing enlarge a point of interception up to 1,500 km, barring bombers from crossing the frontier. In total 188 interceptors of TU-128 type and 10 training aircraft of TU-128UT type were built within 1961-1970 time period.
