The Moskalyev SAM-23 glider and its motorized derivative SAM-24 have been presented in many different shapes, maybe as provisionary drawings before photographs were revealed. Some writers have pretended that the SAM-23 and RK twin-boomers were copies of the Go 242 and Fw 189; however, the Moskalyev designers had produced twin-boom shapes, SAM-13 and 19, long before seeing foreign successful twin-boomers. The SAM code may be interpreted either as a truncated Samolyet (airplane) or as the initials of Samolyet Alexandr Moskalyev.
