Il-38 (according to NATO codification: May) - Soviet medium-range anti-submarine aircraft, developed in the Ilyushin design bureau on the basis of the passenger Il-18V.
IL-38N - a modernized version of the anti-submarine aircraft IL-38. Designed for equipping naval aviation, the Novella system is capable of detecting airborne targets at a distance of up to 90 km, surface targets — up to 320 km. At the same time, the system simultaneously keeps in view 32 targets both above and under water. It is used for conducting radar underwater, surface and air reconnaissance, gives target designation to weapons.
