PS-84 (Li-2 from 1942) – the two-engined passenger aircraft – the license version of the American Douglas DC-3. Mass production started from the middle 1938 at V.P.Tchkalov’s name #84 plant in Khimki, from civil version PS-84. The plant in Khimki assembled the 100-th aircraft in April 1941. To the beginning of WWII “Aeroflot” had 72 civil PS-84, 49 was in the Air Forces and 5 was in NAVY.

Since July 1941 aircraft produced with armament for defence.

Originally civil PS-84 had 5 person crew, two pilots, the flight mechanic, on board radio operator and the steward. It has from 14 up to 21 passengers seats. The aircraft well proved as passenger and transport, with higy reliability and profitability it was simple in operation. Within WWII it was widely used not only for the different transport operations at the front and in rear, but also as a night bomber.

The Soviet Air Forces had received about 2000 Li-2 aircraft during WWII.
