The first copy of "5-1" began to suffer in July 1948 in the glider version - in order to study handling characteristics at low speeds. Fly the aircraft "5-1" Colonel Pakhomov. The first flight on July 14 ended in an accident because of the jammed elevation rudder. Defect corrected. The second flight on September 3 was more successful, but revealed a transverse instability of the aircraft - spontaneous banks on both sides and low effectiveness of the ailerons to correct them. The second copy of the plane "5-2" began to suffer in 1949. Pilot of aircraft was test pilot G.M. Shiyan. "5-2", carrying from 26 January to 9 June 1949, nine glider flights in October and November, four, and did not start testing with an engine that was already installed on the aircraft and tested on the ground. In 1949, work on the project ceased.
